Precious time.
Five Years.
The tipping point into runaway climate disruption is just a few years away. I want to maximize what I’m doing to steer our society towards safety. I’ve only got a few years of robust productive working life too. I’m 65 this year. May I choose the right pathways and make the right choices along the way. June 15, 2021

What can I do?
The Power of Organizing.
I reviewed the list of projects I began in 2009, when I returned from a year of studying sustainable city planning in Sweden: Washington State Green Schools, 350 Climate Action, Spokespeople and Seattle Greenways streets for people, Seattle Tilth Advocacy, Sustainable Communities ALL Over Puget Sound (SCALLOPS) All of these projects succeeded because they engaged other people and groups. The more collaborative a project was, the more successful it was in the long term. While it is important to time ideas that are ready to be taken up broadly, finding leaders, like-minded people and groups, first followers, and unexpected allies is what allows great ideas to be realized. Courses for Life.

2021. Vaccinated. Retired. Now what?
Mid-June 2021 I moved to Portland from Seattle. For me, a life well lived is a life of service. In my new city, in my new chapter of life, how can I help? Here’s my plan. I’m coming up with a number of projects I want to work on and curating them as a curriculum for Cathy University. I hope you will follow along with me in some of my classes. June 13, 2021
